UK mom Keziah Jozefia was using Bondi Sands self-tanner when her son woke up hungry. She picked him up and nursed him before realizing the mistake…

"This is my postpartum. Some of you may see this and think, “Why is she sharing this”, and others “Wow, thanks for sharing” and I’m sure lots of other thoughts in between. Want to know mine? “Wow, she has the courage to share a TRUTH so many different women face. Dealing with a scar of victory and loss." My staples are out now, but as you can imagine the healing and pains are not. You hear about stories like this, but never imagine it being you. The desire to get away is SO strong. Something so beautiful and tragic happened and, unfortunately, I don’t have the luxury to ignore it. When it’s a part of your story, when your children ask, when you have the scar, when you walk into a store and people are looking for what used to be your proud baby bump and it’s now gone… It’s an intense awakening for me. Just remember, don’t quit. Your vulnerabilities are not a weakness. Tell your story!" 📷@tanishasnell_ + @lawlerfamilyphotography for #TeamMotherly + #ThisIsMotherhood

“However motherhood comes to you, it's a miracle.” Whether it’s vaginal or cesarean birth, every birth is a miracle, and all mothers are amazing, strong, and fierce. #3monthspostpartum My scar may fade or it may not, but honestly, I don’t mind. I hope it doesn’t completely. It's a special reminder of just how lucky I am. There are a few things I am incredibly passionate about, and helping other moms-to-be feel empowered about their c-section birth is one of them. I constantly receive messages and emails from moms who are scared, ashamed or overwhelmed about their c-section delivery and have only ever heard horror stories or been met with negativity. I feel so sad that they feel this way when they should be proud, excited and feel like the badass woman they are. I hope one day women everywhere don’t have to feel the need to justify their birth and can proudly say they are a C-section mama without any guilt or shame. Whichever way you birth, you are a legend, and I can assure you your baby will only care that both you and they were safe and well! Yes, it can hurt, but I’d do it a million times over to have my beautiful babies in my arms. 🙌🏼 📷: @bybrittanynoonan

#fbf to that time I went in for a regular ultrasound….only to leave with two newborns in my arms! 😱 I was finishing my strawberry smoothie as I leisurely walked into my routine appointment at 37 weeks+ 4 days, not knowing that in a little over 3 hours I would be in the O.R. holding my twins for the first time. After we got the ultrasound, the doctor came in and all I heard her say was “I’m going to deliver your twins today. I’m sending you downstairs to the O.R. for your C-section right now.” My husband (who almost didn’t come to the appointment) turned ghostly pale and my heart sank in shock. That shock turned into nervousness then readiness then sheer happiness, all in one afternoon. Before I knew it, I went from having 3 hearts beating inside me to the 3 of us bundled up enjoying skin-to-skin before we even rolled out of the O.R. ❤️ Who else had a C-section? 📷: @twinsidescoop

"Inside my body, an infection had been brewing. I had no idea how long, but I had no fever or symptoms so the nurses had no reason to suspect an infection until my body suddenly crashed. I was shaking, freezing cold, and began throwing up. My body was shutting down. From that point on I have very, very few memories. I remember being surrounded by nurses who were trying to find a vein, and I vaguely remember being in the operating room for my emergency c-section. I know I opened my eyes to make sure Guillermo was there. And Brock entered the world. My first memory was waking up in a little curtained off hospital room covered in sweat. Nurses were placing ice bags all over my body and placing a central line in my arm to pump my body with antibiotics. I looked over and Guillermo was talking to a NICU nurse who needed our consent to place an IV through Brock’s umbilical cord. I was so lost, so confused. It was like waking up in a haze. Later I learned that I had developed an infection called chorioamnionitis (also known as intra-amniotic infection) and became septic. Basically, my body gave up on me and stopped fighting off the infection I had developed. This is what caused my body to crash. Brock also got the infection, inhaled meconium, and had a small hole in each of his lungs. This photo is the only one taken that day. Definitely not the gorgeous birth photography I had planned for, but beautiful and special to me none the less." 📷: @happilyevermonica #teammotherly #thisismotherhood

"This is 9 days into being a mother of two and it wasn’t by any means easy. I remember people commenting on saying having a cesarean was taking the easy way out, which in fact, it was the only way. My condition of having a bicornuate uterus left Luna stuck in an uncompromising breech position with no way of giving birth naturally with success. My Obstetrician even had to pull her out with all her might during the surgery which I remember being the most traumatic experience I’ve ever had. So never compare yourself or your story to anyone else’s. You are unique and your story makes you who you are today. Your fertility, pregnancy, birth story and parenting styles are your decisions and experiences and no one else’s."✨ Share your birth stories below, mama! 👇 📷: @bazaarmumma #teammotherly #thisismotherhood

"A year ago you were born, and a few days later, Dusty, your dad, took our first photo together in our bedroom next to the window. It was one of the most beautiful photos I had ever seen, even though you never see either one of our faces. Instead of a smiling portrait of us, it’s just a photo of me cradling you gently next to the stitched up #Csection dressing you came from. And here we are now. The C-section scar may still be there, but now I can barely hold you in my arms. You are so busy these days and even more beautiful as I’ve gotten to know you this past year. That smile of yours will change the world. I’ve watched as you have changed the mood of an unhappy stranger with one toothy grin, cute wave or infectious laugh. Never lose that. It is a gift to beam joy! I love you, my sweet Isaiah. You may not had made me a mother but you definitely helped me become a better one." 📷: @thebluegrassmom for #TeamMotherly
